The Hong Kong Sports Institute supports the elite athletes by providing high‑performance training, sports science and medicine services, as well as education and career development pathways. The Sports Medicine Centre offers scholarship athletes with comprehensive medical support, including physical examinations, general clinical services, orthopedics consultations, physiotherapy, rehabilitative training, and various recovery modalities. The internship program provides a practical, hands‑on learning experience within the Sports Medicine Centre, enabling participants to gain valuable exposure to supporting elite athletes throughout their training and competitive activities.
- Type: Student Interns
- Duration: 6 months (Commence in Mid-Late April)
- Target participants: HKPA student members who are Year 2 & Year 3 undergraduate students attending BSc in Physiotherapy offered by the local universities
- Capacity: 2 students
- Have basic knowledge in the management of musculoskeletal dysfunctions
- Demonstrate a strong interest in sports injuries and sports medicine
- Reliable, proactive, and responsible
- Available for 12 hours per week (Adjustments can be made to accommodate the placement schedule during the clinical placement block)
- Assist in the operation of the Sports Medicine Centre
- Supervise rehabilitation programs
- Conduct screenings and performance testing for sports teams
- Assist in monitoring training loads for athletes returning to play
- Support data management and the preparation of educational materials for athletes
By the end of the internship, successful applicants will have gained:
- • A solid understanding of how medical support is provided to elite athletes
- • Practical skills in assessing and managing musculoskeletal dysfunctions
- • Valuable experience in post‑operative care and return‑to‑sport rehabilitation
- Complete the Google Form (including your CV, a 1‑minute self‑introduction video, and a brief explanation of why you want to join the internship).
