Course description:
International Schroth 3D Scoliosis Therapy (ISST) is a famous and worldwide technique originated from Germany. This technique is useful and effective to prevent and correct the spinal curve for scoliosis patients. Please refer to ISST website for details.
Specific conditions:
Qualified course participants have to pass a written and practical exam to get the ISST certification and become a listed ISST-Schroth therapist according to Asklepios Katharina Schroth. (More information for the certification process could be found on the ISST – website www.scoliosis-rehabilitation.com) The certification authorizes for the treatment according to the concept of Asklepios Katharina Schroth but does not permit to teach other professionals the method. In case of non-compliance, the certification and the status ISST – Schroth therapist will be deprived by ISST – International and the Asklepios company. Continuous Education Credits (CEC): To keep the certificate valid ISST Schroth therapists have to participate in ISST refresher courses within 3yr after the last renewal. Participants can freely choose refresher courses approved by ISST – International in different regions.

Ms Avis Leung, DPT, ISST Instructor
Avis Leung, DPT received her cross-continent physiotherapy education from Hong Kong, Australia, and the United States. A lifelong learner and experienced clinician, she is specialized in the Schroth program for scoliosis treatment and pelvic floor rehabilitation. In 2008, she obtained her Schroth certification through the original Asklepios Katerina-Schroth-Klinik in Germany, which was the first year ever the clinic provided courses in English. Avis founded SpinelineRehab physical therapy clinic near Chicago. Her clinic provides care for different diagnoses including scoliosis, core muscle deficit, chronic pain, pelvic floor disorder, and sports-specific movement dysfunctions.
Avis is an ISST international instructor who conducts Schroth training courses locally in the US as well as overseas. She is also an ISST board member, with roles that include education development and training of new instructors. Avis enjoys collecting data relating to elements of the Schroth program and had multiple presentations in SOSORT (International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment). She is an active member of SOSORT, SRS (Scoliosis Research Society), and APTA (American Physical Therapy Association). It is her passion to help other physiotherapists learn and excel in the Schroth technique.
Ms Mandy Lui, Registered Physiotherapist, ISST Instructor Assistant
Mandy Lui has received different schools of training in scoliosis. She obtained her training through the world renowned Asklepios Katharina-Schroth-Klinik in Germany in 2015. She earned her certificate in the Level I and Level II of the Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS) accreditation program, which was organized by the Italian Scientific Spine Institute in 2014 and 2016 respectively. She also learned the strand of Schroth Therapy, Schroth Best Practice (SBP).
In 2016, she first implemented the well-structured Schroth Therapy Program for treating adult scoliosis in Tang Shiu Kin Hospital. The aim of the program is to facilitate adult scoliosis patients in pain relief and in prevention of curve progression. In 2018, she recruited idiopathic adolescent scoliosis into the program to prevent curve progression. Apart from applying her clinical duties, she is also passionate in sharing her knowledge in scoliosis among the health professions, physiotherapy students and public members. While applying Schroth Therapy on scoliosis patients, she validated her practice with conducting a pilot study in 2016–2018 and presented in the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association (HKOA) 39th Annual Congress and the Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT) 2020.
