Why Join HKPA

Why join HKPA?

The motto of HKPA is uniting physiotherapists, advancing practice, enhancing health.  This underpins our core values as a physiotherapy professional organization, and explains why joining HKPA is important.

Uniting physiotherapists

Each physiotherapist is an integral part of the big physiotherapy family, regardless of age, gender, years of work experience, area of expertise, and workplace. More members will translate into a stronger voice, greater visibility and more impactful outcomes in everything that we do. The representativeness of the HKPA is in fact key factor when it comes to advocacy for the profession. We need you to join us so that we can work together in breaking new grounds.

Advancing practice

Throughout each membership period, the HKPA offers a variety of continuing education courses to keep physiotherapists abreast of the advances and contemporary practice in different specialty areas of physiotherapy.  We also hold our scientific conference at least once every two years to foster evidence-based practice and scientific exchange among clinicians, students, educators, researchers in physiotherapy and other professions, both locally and overseas.  HKPA members enjoy a substantial discount in attending these courses and conferences. HKPA members also have priority when the course has a limited number of quota. We provide the accreditation service for acupuncture practice. Those HKPA members who have completed the required courses/training in acupuncture is eligible to apply. Our accreditation is mandatory for those physiotherapists who would like to practice acupuncture in facilities under the management of the Hospital Authority.

Enhancing health

The HKPA organizes different activities for the general public or specific patient groups, often in collaboration with other organizations. These activities are intended to provide health education, promote the visibility of the physiotherapy profession to the general public. We need more physiotherapists from all health sectors to join us so that we can increase the public awareness of physiotherapy and create a greater impact in our endeavors.
