Manipulative Therapy is probably one of the most recognized specialties in Physiotherapy. It is characterized by the form of therapy, rather than the field of practice (e.g. Paediatrics). Being a full Member Organisation of the International Federation of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physical Therapists (IFOMPT), only physiotherapists who completed the advanced educational programmes endorsed by IFOMPT such as Master’s Degree Programme in Manipulative Therapy (or equivalent) could be admitted as full member of the MTSG.
Manipulative Therapy is indicated for the management of a wide range of conditions; such as pain (especially chronic), and neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunctions for people in different age groups across life span. Manual therapists adopt a contemporary, evidence-based and individualised treatment approach to facilitate the recovery of people in need. Treatments such as therapeutic massage, soft tissue adjustments, stretching, and neuro- and/or joint mobilization are our core skills, in addition to other therapies including exercise therapy and motor control training form the basis of our daily practice to maximise the treatment effects.
